Welcome to the June 2008 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) 
Interactive Festival monthly listserve. The form for submitting panel 
ideas for next year's event is now live -- read below for details on 
getting your idea onto the 2009 schedule! Also, Friday, June 13 is the 
entry deadline for SXSWclick, an initiative created to showcase 
short-form storytelling via mobile devices and the web. This listserve 
also contains an easy-to-answer trivia question that will allow you to 
win a FREE FREE FREE registration to the 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival 
in always-sunny Austin, Texas.

1. 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival Scheduled March 13-17

Sure, summer has just begun -- but next spring will be here before you 
know it. To this end, dates for the 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival are 
Friday, March 13 through Tuesday, March 17. Panel programming will 
commence on Friday afternoon, then jump into full swing at 10:00 am on 
Saturday morning. The registration process for SXSW 2009 will begin in 
August -- and, the earlier you register for the event, the more you save 
on the walkup price. Also, to be eligible for the best selection of 
hotel rooms, send your your name, company, and email address to 
housing at sxsw.com (please title your e-mail "Early Bird Notification List.")

2. Don't Be Scared: Friday the 13th is Deadline for SXSWclick

A year-round initiative created to showcase short-form storytelling via 
mobile devices and the web, SXSWclick is your ticket to win an 
assortment of prizes and industry exposure. Online/mobile video content 
has had a huge impact on traditional filmmaking -- and this competition 
is your chance to showcase your work to the SXSW audience ! Entries for 
SXSWclick are accepted through Friday, June 13. Find complete

3. Panel Ideas for SXSW 2009; Submission Process Now Open

Do you have a great idea for a panel discussion or a presentation at the 
2009 SXSW Interactive Festival? If so, we want to hear about it. The 
online application form for submitting these ideas has now been 
launched. All received submissions will be posted on the SXSW Panel 
Picker, thereby allowing the web community to vote on which ideas they 
feel are most appropriate for the 2009 event. Learn complete details at

for ideas is Friday, July 11 -- although SXSW reserves the right to move 
this deadline forward if we are reach the saturation point on submissions.

4. Get Involved: 2009 Panel Mentor Program Announced

If you do NOT have a panel idea for 2009 but would still like to be a 
part of helping to improve SXSW, then consider volunteering yourself for 
the panel mentor program. A new addition for 2009, this program will 
encourage qualified members of the online community to help facilitate 
communication between the SXSW staff and the many industry experts 
scheduled to speak at next year's event. All panel mentors will be given 
a comp badge for their efforts. E-mail Hugh at sxsw.com for details if you 
are interested in being part of this new program (please title your 
e-mail "SXSW Panel Mentor Program").

5. Keeping Score: Ratings From SXSW 2008 Posted on Website

Many thanks to all the 2008 SXSW attendees who completed the post-event 
online survey. Comments from these surveys, combined with panel analysis 
from the feedback cards handed out at the end of each session give us a 
much better picture of what happened at this year's event. See the full
