Welcome to the February 2008 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) 
Interactive Festival monthly listserve. Read below for more information 
on the February 8 registration deadline, as well as the upcoming 
announcement about 2008 SXSW Web Awards finalists. Additionally, this 
listserve contains a simple SXSW Interactive-related trivia question. 
Provide the right answer and you can win a FREE FREE FREE registration 
to this year's event. Yes, it is true: the 2008 SXSW Interactive 
Festival is only about a month away! Dates are Friday, March 7 through 
Tuesday, March 11. SXSW occurs in the mecca of creative thinking that is 
Austin, Texas.

1. Fri, Feb 8 Registration Deadline: Last Chance to Save on Walkup Rate

Save $50 on the $450 walkup fees to attend the 2008 SXSW Interactive
Festival if you register before the Friday, February 8 price increase.
That's right -- get all the daytime programming content and evening
social activities for just $400 if you register by this February 8
deadline. As an added incentive, the earlier you purchase your
registration, the more options you have in terms of convenient hotels.
Yes, there are still many high-quality rooms available for SXSW within a
short cab ride of the Austin Convention Center. Complete registration

Also, please remember that names processed after Friday, February 8th
will not make it into the Registrant's Directory.

2. Keynotes, Panels and Day Stage Content: So Much Cool Stuff!

The 2008 SXSW Interactive Festival features more than 150 panel
sessions, covering everything from new business models to blogging to
social media trends to web design. Check out the day-by-day schedule at

the 2008 lineup is Book Readings (see
http://2008.sxsw.com/interactive/programming/readings/), which occur
within the Adobe Day Stage. Look for a dynamic, fully searchable
schedule of all daytime content to go live on the SXSW website beginning
Friday, February 15.

3. Who Needs Sleep? Evening Events Schedule Now Live on SXSW Website

While daytime programming is the heart and soul of the SXSW Interactive
Festival, evening events make the event truly shine. These after-dark
activities begin Friday, March 7 with Mix at Six. Also, don't miss the
frog design Opening Party (Saturday, March 8), the Web Awards Ceremony
(presented by Adobe on Sunday, March 9), or the Media Temple Closing
Party (Tuesday, March 11). See the growing schedule of evening events at

4. 2008 Web Awards: Finalists Announced on Friday, February 8

Speaking of the Web Awards, finalists for the 2008 competition will be
announced on the SXSW website on Friday, February 8. These finalists
will be honored on Sunday evening, March 9 at the Web Awards Ceremony at
the Hilton Austin Downtown. Comedian, writer, actor, and filmmaker
Eugene Mirman will serve as emcee of this fun-filled event. The 2008
SXSW Web Awards Ceremony is presented by Adobe. Don't you dare miss it!

5. Interactive + Film (iF!) Trade Show: Exhibitor Listings Now Posted Online

Scheduled Sunday, March 9 through Tuesday, March 11, the Interactive +
Film (iF!) Trade Show is the center of daytime events at SXSW. This
year’s event features more than 100 exhibitors, ranging from Google to
MAKE Magazine to O'Reily Media to Small World Labs. Learn more about all

6. If We Had a Photograph of You: 2008 Badge Uploading Process

Are you already registered for the 2008 event? Then make the
badge-pickup process in Austin quick and painless by uploading a
passport-style headshot for your SXSW badge. Just login to your Online
Registrants Directory listing at
https://regdir.sxsw.com/registrants/login , click on 'BADGE' and follow
the directions. This interface will also allow you to make any necessary
corrections to your Badge information. If you don't remember your user
name and password, use the above link to retrieve it. Finally, please
remember that badge pick-up hours for this year are slightly different

Team SXSW Interactive is back in Texas after a month of networking
parties that took us to San Francisco, Chicago, New York and Seattle. So
