1. Attendee Feedback About SXSW 2008 Posted Online Soon
Many thanks to all the SXSW registrants who completed the post-event
online survey. We are currently reading through all these comments, as
well as the feedback cards that were turned in at the conclusion of
each panel session. Look for a recap of this feedback to be posted on
the SXSW Interactive website soon. In the next few weeks, we will also
post rankings of what panels and presentations received the highest
ratings from 2008 attendees. As always, your brainstorms and
constructive criticisms are what help us to continue to improve SXSW
Interactive. Got even more to say about how we can change the event
for the better? We are all ears -- please e-mail us at inter at sxsw.com
--------------------
2. 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival Dates: March 13-17
Mark your calendar now! Dates for the 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival
are Friday, March 13 through Tuesday, March 17. As with the 2008
event, panel programming will commence on Friday afternoon (March 13)
-- then jump into full swing at 10:00 am on Saturday morning (March
14). Registration for the 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival will begin in
August. Remember, the earlier you register for the event, the more you
save on the walkup price -- and the better the selection for Austin
hotels (see below).
--------------------
3. 2009 Hotel Info: Get Your Name on the Early Bird Notification List
No, unfortunately, you can't book your hotel for 2009 until later this
summer. But now is the right time to put in your request for a hotel
and registration wake-up call. Just email your name, company, and
email address to housing at sxsw.com and state that you want to be put on
the Early Bird Notification List. You will receive an email notice
(sometime around August) before the SXSW 2009 online registration and
housing go live. This e-mail notice will alert you to register at the
lowest rate and book your preferred hotel. The most popular hotels for
SXSW Interactive sold out early this year -- and we expect a similar
pattern for the 2009 event. Not sure where you want to stay? Browse
the online list of 2008 hotels (sxsw.com/hotels - caution: those are
last year's rates) and think about which lodging options best suit
your needs.

4. 2009 Panel Picker: Submission Process Opens June 2
Did the 2008 SXSW Interactive Festival inspire you to submit a panel
idea for next year’s event? Excellent – most of the best programming
at SXSW comes directly from the online community. So here is how this
process wiil work for 2009. We will begin accepting ideas for next
spring from Tuesday, June 2 through Friday, July 11. Complete details
on what kind of information we will need for the 2009 Panel Picker
will be posted on the SXSW website in mid-May. Please feel free to e-
mail us at inter at sxsw.com if you are still confused about how this
process works
--------------------
5. New for 2009: Panel Mentor Program Announced
One of the improvements we want to implement for the 2009 SXSW
Interactive Festival is a panel monitor program in which members of
the online community help SXSW with the programming organizational
process. Specifically, panel monitors will help facilitate
communication between speakers from December through March. All panel
mentors will be given a comp badge for their efforts. Stay tuned to
the SXSW Interactive website for more information on this new program
-- or e-mail Hugh at sxsw.com for details (please title your e-mail "SXSW
panel monitor program").
