Welcome to the October 2007 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW)
Interactive Festival monthly listserve. Read below for more information
on our first-ever networking mixer in the United Kingdom (Tuesday,
October 23 at Departure Bar in London). Additionally, this listserve
contains a simple SXSW-related trivia question. Provide the right answer

1. March Madness: Register Now for Best Selection of Downtown Hotels

2. London Mixer Scheduled Tuesday, October 23 at the Departure Bar
In January 2007, SXSW Interactive hosted mixers in Chicago, New York,
San Francisco and Austin. In October, the Texas crew takes the party
overseas with our first-ever networking event in the United Kingdom.
Scheduled Tuesday evening, October 23 from 7-9pm, this event takes place
at the stylish new Departure Bar in London's Aldgate neighborhood. The
mixer celebrates Virtual Worlds Forum (http://virtualworldsforum.com/),
a conference designed to help you understand why brands, corporations
and not-for-profits are taking the business possibilities of virtual
worlds very seriously. Capacity for the October 23 shindig is very

3. 2008 Web Awards: Early Entry Deadline is Midnight on Friday, October 19
Is your website reshaping the look and feel of the Internet? If so, then
be sure to enter your work in the 2008 SXSW Web Awards. See

information, plus official rules and details on the three new
categories: "Activism," "Gaming" and "Mobile." Hurry, early entry
deadline is midnight on Friday, October 19 (entering before this

4. First Round of Panel Programming Announced in Late October
Henry Jenkins, a prolific author as well as the Co-Director of the
Comparative Media Studies Program at MIT, is slated to deliver Opening
Remarks on Saturday, March 8. But, who else is going to speak at the
2008 event? Stay tuned to the SXSW Interactive Festival website
(http://www.sxsw.com/interactive) on Friday, October 19. This is the
date we are scheduled to release the first / preliminary list of
panelists and panel titles. Let the countdown begin!

where SXSW registrants interact with the hottest new gaming
technologies. Highlights of last year's event included a booth where
attendees could challenge the Frag Dolls, the intense ongoing action of
