Welcome to the February 2007 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) 
Interactive Festival monthly listserve. Read below for more information 
on the February 9 pre-payment registration deadline, which is your last 
chance to save on walkup fees for this year's event. The following 
listserve also has complete info on finalists for the 2007 SXSW Web 
Awards -- as well as voting info for the coveted People's Choice trophy. 
Additionally, read below to learn how you can win a FREE FREE FREE 
registration to SXSW Interactive, which takes place March 9 through 
March 13 in the worldwide mecca of creativity that is Austin, Texas.

1. Friday, February 9 is the $300 Registration Deadline for SXSW 
Interactive

Why pay thousands of dollars for a technology conference when you can

February 9. After this date, the walk-up rate of $350 applies. Prices

2. List of 2007 SXSW Web Awards Finalists Now Posted on sxsw.com

The SXSW Web Awards honor the Internet's best new sites and 
destinations, helping uncover the next generation of web talent. The 
list of finalists for these awards is now posted on the SXSW website.

sites that made it through the rigorous selection process. These 
finalists will be honored at the Web Awards Ceremony on Sunday evening, 
March 11 at the Hilton Austin Downtown. Emceed by popular video blogger

3. Voting for People's Choice Award Open Through Friday, March 2

Which site do you like best from these finalists? Vote for your favorite 
Web Awards finalist in the People's Choice Award. Voting for this 
competition remains open through Friday, March 2. The entire web public 
is invited to participate in this voting - so please feel free to pass 
the word along to your non-registered friends and associates. The winner 
of the 2007 People's Choice Award is announced at the Web Awards

4. Check Out the Ever-Growing SXSW Interactive Panel Schedule

For 2007, the SXSW Interactive Festival includes over 120 panels, power 
sessions, and keynotes, featuring the expertise of more than 400 leading 
new media experts. Confirmed speakers range from Amanda Congdon 
(amandacongdon.com) to Gil Penchina (Wikia) to Molly Holzschlag 
(molly.com) to Kevin Rose (digg) to Bruce Sterling (Veridian Design).

5. ScreenBurn Brings Video Games to SXSW Interactive Lineup

6. New for 2007: More Friday Afternoon Panel Programming

Registration / badge pick-up for the 2007 SXSW Interactive Festival 
opens at noon at the Austin Convention Center on Friday, March 9. If you 
are picking up your credentials on this day, then you will want to see 
the special panel programming we have scheduled Friday afternoon. From 
3:30-4:30, attend the "Real Story Behind Snakes on a Plane" panel at the 
Austin Convention Center. This session is followed from 5:00-6:00 will 
the all-important "How to Rawk SXSW." Also from 5:00-6:00 is the special 
"Your Video Blog Can Save the World" panel at the George Washington 
Carver Museum & Cultural Center (1165 Angelina St). The "Your Video Blog 
Can Save the World" session is free and open to the public - you do not 
need a SXSW badge to attend this introductory session on the power of 
video blogs.

7. Expanded Evening Event Schedule Announced Online This Week

Daytime programming is only half the story at SXSW Interactive, because 
the event also hosts a jam-packed array of exciting after-dark 
activities. For 2007, these parties kick off with Mix at Six on Friday 
night, March 9 and conclude with the Media Temple Closing Party on 
Tuesday night, March 13. For complete schedule (including info on the

ScreenBurn brings the world of video games into the focus of the SXSW
