Welcome to the October 2006 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW)
Interactive Festival monthly listserve. Read below for more information
about the 2007 SXSW Interactive Festival Web Awards -- early entry
deadline for this competition is October 13. Also on October 13, voting
closes for Round Two of the SXSW Panel Picker; details explained below.

1. Save By Entering the SXSW Web Awards Before October 13 Deadline
The SXSW Web Awards uncover the newest, coolest, most exciting, and most
innovative trends on the web. If you are on the cutting edge of this
industry, then be sure to enter your amazing online destination in this
competition. Early entry deadline is Friday, October 13 -- cost to enter
is only $10 if submitted by this date. Final submission deadline for
this competition is Friday, December 15 (entry fee rises to $25 after
early deadline). Winners of the SXSW Web Awards will be revealed at the
gala Web Awards Ceremony on Sunday evening, March 11 at the Downtown

2. Voting for Round Two of SXSW Panel Picker Closes on October 13
Help decide the programming for the 2007 SXSW Interactive Festival by
visiting the SXSW Panel Picker. This nifty web application allows you to
vote for which panel ideas (as submitted by the SXSW community) you
think are most appropriate for next spring's event. For more

for the second and film round of this process is Friday, October 13.

3. 2007 Speakers Include Former Virginia Governor Mark Warner
Keynote Speakers for the 2007 SXSW Interactive Festival include Kathy
Sierra (Saturday, March 10) and Dan Rather (Tuesday, March 12). Other

4. SXSW Interactive Registration Fee Only $250 Through November 17
Why pay thousands of dollars to attend a new media event when you can

5. ScreenBurn Returns in 2007 With More Panels Plus Hands-On Arcade
In 2006, SXSW Interactive launched ScreenBurn to give more focus to the
video game industry. This new component of SXSW Interactive should be
even more visible in 2007, as ScreenBurn will feature four days of
panels (Saturday, March 10 through Tuesday, March 13), plus the
first-ever ScreenBurn Arcade (Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11).
ScreenBurn 2007 is sponsored by Seagate Technologies, a leading provider
of technology and products enabling people to store, access, and manage

6. SXSW Partners With Threadless for 2007 Big Bag Design Competition
In 2006, the immensely popular online t-shirt company Threadless helped
administer the SXSW Big Bag Design Competition. The results of this
collaboration were incredible as more than 250 entries were submitted to
this contest. The eventual winner of this competition was the
banana-flavored "Potassium Alkaline" design from Ron Lewis. SXSW and
Threadless are excited to work together again in 2007 -- see

now on a better looking bag, as final submission deadline will be in
late November.
